After a brief historical overview into the roots of a social psychology of subjective experience, the authors address 3 guiding questions. First, the nature of subjective experiences is addressed; what do they have in common, and how we can distinguish between different kinds of subjective experiences. Second, the authors take a look at the consequences of subjective experience on social information processing. Finally, some of the obstacles as well as some avenues for future research are discussed. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2020 APA, all rights reserved)
