Abstract: In this article we present a link between the description of an idealized skin as a continuum on one hand and as a collection of finitely many interacting material particles on the other. In doing so, we restrict us, for simplicity, to the following set up: We take into account the quality of the medium in as far only, as it characterizes the internal force density responding an infinitesimal distortion. This is to say, we classify the medium by the virtual work only (cf. [He],[E,S]). (It is not hard to overcome this restriction).
