Abstract: On Track is a long term multi-component initiative aimed at children and the families of children aged four to twelve who may be at risk of anti-social behaviour and offending in England and Wales. It was originally devised by the Home Office in 1999 as a pilot or demonstration programme, funded through the national Crime Reduction programme. The aims, objectives and shape of the initiative have their roots in the US programme Fast Track. A preventative intervention, targeting high risk school- age children, Fast Track aims to intervene in early onset conduct problems, and research has shown that the programme can be effective in reducing later conduct problems amongst children and adolescents and improving educational and social outcomes for adolescents (Conduct Problems Research Prevention Group 1999, 2002). --- This report covers only the first wave of the Cohort Study. Chapters 2-8 give full details about the research methods used in the first wave of the Cohort Study. Chapter 8 also looks at the intended analysis aims of the study, and discusses how far these can be met by the data collected
