Abstract:	This dissertation consists of 5 chapters. Chapter 1 describes an RCT with savings groups in rural Zambia. Chapters 2 and 3 are impact evaluations based on this RCT. Chapter 4 investigates respondents' perceptions about survey compensation. Chapter 5 tests augmented approaches for obtaining informed consent in a survey in Pakistan.
