Abstract: With multi-method analyses (Conjoint-Analysis, Young Rubicam’s BAV score, a survey and real-world application data), we find that job-seekers understand that higher salaries might come at a cost. Online employer reviews make these costs apparent and are incorporated in job-seekers’ decision-making processes. We further show that better-rated companies can allow to pay less to have applicants join with the same likelihood.
