communication in organizations|metaphors|organizational discourse|rhetoric
Abstract:
Communication is increasingly considered an essential parameter in the construction, maintenance, and change of organizations. This results in an ever-growing importance of qualitative conceptualizations of organizational communication (interpretive, symbolic, anthropological, and semiotic approaches). In a similar vein, qualitative methods are gradually becoming established in the field of organization theory as well. Therefore, the subject under observation in this volume, the interdisciplinary links between linguistics and organization theory, can be considered to be of some relevance for not just one scientific discipline. This book contains presentations that were made during a conference with the University of Mannheim in 2001.
