Abstract: Using CORBA's Property Service, CORBA objects can be dynamically provided with additional properties out-side their static IDL type system. However, the CORBA Property Service only provides a very basic building block. The association between objects and properties, for example, is considered an implementation detail and is fully delegated to the developer of an application requir-ing property management. Furthermore, properties de-fined by means of the CORBA Property Service have no lifetime restriction, i.e., properties which may only live for a specific period of time are not supported. In our paper we present an approach to extending the current specifi-cation of the Property Service in order to increase its quality of service by providing explicit object/property set associations managed by the service and by integrating the aspect of temporary properties. It is a smooth exten-sion which allows new applications to integrate the new features without a big effort and which does not require existing applications to be changed if they do not need the new features.
