Informatik 2001 : Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft in der Network Economy - Visionen und Wirklichkeit; Tagungsband der GI/OCG Jahrestagung 2001, 25. - 28. September 2001, Universität Wien ; Bd. 2
Many universities are now experimenting with the synchronous transmission of lectures over the Internet. However, the creation of virtual training units accompanying such online-lectures usually requires a high manual effort. As a consequence, only parts of these courses are typically made available as Internet-based virtual training units. In this paper we present a scheme, that enables the creation of self-contained training units from live-lectures with minimal effort. In this paper we discuss major technical challenges such as the automatic cut of recorded lectures into slide-size sections and the integration of additional course material, and we present experiences we have gained using the presented system.
