Abstract: MotionWave is a tool for the wavelet-based transformation of video sequences. It can display the original video in its spatial domain as well as its representation in the three-dimensional wavelet domain. MotionWave thus provides an interactive realtime mode and a volume visualization. The motivation for writing the tool was to provide an insight into the frequency domain of wavelet-transformed videos. It should aid in discovering structures in the spatial grouping of wavelet coefficients in order to develop advanced compression methods.
