Abstract:
Ab der Mitte des 19. Jh. befanden sich die heterogenen Volksgruppen Makedoniens und Thrakiens in ihrem Nationalbildungsprozess, suchten ihre Identität und strebten ihre Befreiung vom Osmanischen Reich an. Schwerpunktmäßig beschäftigt sich die Arbeit mit den außenpolitischen Ereignissen und ihren innenpolitischen Rückwirkungen auf Griechenland von den Balkankriegen bis zum Ende des 1. Weltkriegs. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, an Hand von bisher unveröffentlichten Konsulats- und Verwaltungsberichten aus den Archiven in Athen, Kavala und Sofia nicht nur den Kampf zwischen Griechenland und Bulgarien um die Herrschaft über diese Gebiete und die übergeordneten Interessen der Großmächte nachzuzeichnen, sondern auch das Schicksal der makedonischen und thrakischen Volksgruppen während dieser Kämpfe.

From the middle of the 19th cent. the heterogenous ethnic groups of Macedonia and Thrace were in the middle of their national formation and strived for liberation from the Osmanic rule. Emphases of this thesis are the external political events and their domestical ramifications for Greece from the Balkan Wars to the First World War. By the use of hitherto unpublished diplomatic and administrative documents from the archivs at Athens, Kavala and Sophia this work gives an account not only of the fights between Greece and Bulgaria for the rule over these regions and the greater interests of the then Great Powers of Europe but also the fate of the macadonian and thracean ethnic groups during those wars.
