Abstract: Diversity in resources and opportunities poses essential features of migrant entrepreneurship and simultaneously acts as its driving force. Diversity also correlates with contextual factors, as immigrant entrepreneurs are not only embedded in co-ethnic social capital networks, but also in external economic and institutional contexts. The paper addresses facets of the structure and development of immigrant entrepreneurship in Germany and explores how socio-cultural, structural and entrepreneurial diversity corresponds with (in)equality and social mobility. Integrating the scientific and political lenses on diversity, the paper aims at assessing how changes in contextual factors and in characteristics of diverse immigrant entrepreneurship in Germany have developed over time and to what extent immigrant entrepreneurs really differ from the immigrant active population. This has crucial implications for politics of social integration and economic support.
