This dissertation consists of three chapters which are self-contained. However, there is a common denominator between all three chapters. Each chapter looks at unintended indirect effects of policy interventions. Chapter 1 is a continuation of my dissertation proposal (Spils, 2018) and explores the long-run effects of reducing the number of STEM-hours in high school.
Chapter 2 studies the effect of a buyer’s bias for an insurance product on the market equilibrium. Chapter 3 investigates the economic effects of wearing a face mask in the laboratory during various well-known tasks from the literature.
