Abstract:	Here we treat an application of a very simple sort of Lie theory to mechanics of continua determined by finitely many particles. The aim of this application is the description of a discrete medium as a continuum. The discrete medium consists of a large but finite collection P of interacting material particles. The continuum is modeled on a compact nice manifold M (without boundary, for simplicity) equipped with a smooth mass density. M is called an idealized skin.
