Abstract:
Combining upper echelons theory with other theory lenses, this dissertation consists of three independent but interlinked studies that add further understanding of the important role of executive traits in company management. The first focus of this dissertation is to further explore the role of narcissism in influencing a CEO’s decisions and behaviors in corporate governance. The second focus is to figure out whether and how individual and organizational factors influence a CEO’s narcissistic tendency or his/her decision making process. At the same time, this dissertation also tries to investigate the relationship between CEO narcissism and firm performance.
