Abstract:	This thesis consists of four essays exploring different topics in public economics and political economy. The first essay evaluates the efficiency of a placed-based policy and its effect on regional inequality. The second essay explores the impact of political ideology in the context of tax competition and international labor mobility. The third essay investigates the effects of austerity on distributional policy. The fourth essays evaluates the effects of disclosure laws on politicians outside incomes.
